Laptops, tablets & computers

Only one Florida scholarship pays for a computer: the Unique Abilities Scholarship (FES-UA). PEP and the Private School Scholarship prohibit them for 2026-27.

Last verified: October 2026. Checked against Step Up For Students' 2026-27 award tables, handbooks and purchasing guides.

The rule in one line. FES-UA can cover one computer (laptop, desktop or tablet) every two years; replacing it sooner needs pre-authorization. Computers are banned under PEP and under the FTC/FES-EO Private School Scholarship. Rules apply; a device has to support the student's education.

How do I pay for it?

Look in the program marketplace first, where listed items are pre-approved. Next, check whether the provider is approved for direct payment. Otherwise pay, keep an itemized receipt with your Florida address and file for reimbursement; anything not listed as eligible needs pre-authorization before you buy.
